The Governor’s Office of Human Trafficking Prevention launched “PlaySafe Louisiana”

The Governor’s Office of Human Trafficking Prevention launched “PlaySafe Louisiana” an interactive game that educates youth on online safety.

Baton Rouge, LA— The Governor’s Office of Human Trafficking Prevention launched PlaySafe Louisiana, a prevention education game designed for youth ages 10–16. The game puts students in realistic online gaming scenarios to recognize predator tactics and to report concerning behavior before it escalates. The game was unveiled Wednesday, September 16, at Parkview Baptist School, where the students had the opportunity to play and experience it firsthand.

“From my time as Attorney General to now as Governor, fighting human trafficking and protecting Louisiana’s kids has been a top priority from day one,” said Governor Jeff Landry. “We have to do everything we can to keep our kids safe, especially online. PlaySafe Louisiana gives our young people the tools to recognize dangerous behavior and help stop trafficking before it starts.”

Predators and traffickers routinely use online platforms, including gaming chatrooms, to target young people. And the trend is growing. In 2025, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received 21.3 million tips to their CyberTipline for online child sexual exploitation. CyberTipline reports of child sex trafficking alone rose 323%.  PlaySafe Louisiana is an innovative training resource for parents, mentors, coaches, and schools to equip youth to stay safe online and reduce their risk of exploitation and trafficking.

“Predators use predictable grooming tactics: they befriend youth, build their trust, and gradually test boundaries, all before the abuse begins,” said Mary Kate Andrepont, Director of the Governor’s Office of Human Trafficking Prevention. “PlaySafe Louisiana teaches youth to recognize these patterns and empowers them to trust their instincts. Youth can feel confident that when they speak up, they will be met with support from trusted adults.”
